Gas Safe Register

Gas Safe Register is the official body for gas safety in Great Britain and the Isle of Man. This means that whenever a gas engineer carries out work on your property, by law they must be on the Gas Safe Register.

Gas safety in the home and workplace is not something you can compromise. If you don’t have your gas appliances checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer you are risking your life. The Gas Safe Register exists to ensure gas safety for you, your family and your property.

Part P Electrical Safety

The Building Regulations are managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). Part P is an amendment of the Building Regulations introduced by the government, effective from January 1st 2005.

The Part P requirement is that “Reasonable provision shall be made in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installations from fire or injury.”

In short, electrical installations must be safe!

Part P Competent Person Scheme was introduced to permit firms that had been assessed as sufficiently competent, to self-certify that their work complies with all applicable requirements of the Building Regulations.

NIC EIC Electrical

NICEIC has been assessing the technical competence of contractors for over 50 years.  Their aim is to protect everyone who uses electricity from unsafe electrical installations in their homes, places of work and leisure.  To achieve this, they maintain a register of electrical contractors that we assess as complying with the various standards, codes of practice and Scheme rules.

Contractor assessment covers a representative sample of the contractors work, their premises, documentation, equipment, and the competence of their key supervisory staff.  Once contractors become registered with NICEIC, they are re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance.

CHAS Accredited Contractor

CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers.

Trust Mark

TrustMark designates reliable, trustworthy tradesmen to make improvements and repairs inside and outside your home.

TrustMark is a not for profit organisation supported by Government, the building industry, retailers and consumer protection groups.

Construction Skills

Construction Skills are the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board for the construction industry, working to deliver a safe, professional and fully qualified UK construction workforce.

Certified members of Construction Skills work to help them improve skills to increase their competitive edge through indepth training and construction education in the UK.

Environmental Agency

Environmental Agency is an Executive Non-departmental Public Body responsible to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and an Assembly Sponsored Public Body responsible to the National Assembly for Wales.

Their principal aims are to protect and improve the environment, and to promote sustainable development. They work with their members to  play a central role in delivering the environmental priorities of central government and the Welsh Assembly Government through their functions and roles.
