DDA, Special Needs Home Extension - Case Study

Project Description

Our customers were referred to us by the architectural consultants, as a company that went the extra mile and provided great services. Our brief was to extend an existing dormer bungalow to include a self-contained granny flat suitable for a disabled elderly person. The extension needed to include self-contained living room, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom, with the construction of walls and floor completed to allow movement throughout the extension minimal effect on our client. We decided to limit the amount of internal walls and floor thresholds within the construction to eliminate the need to open and close doors continuously and reduce trip hazards. Our services included ground works, foundations, below ground drainage, all building works walls, roof, windows and doors, our internal services included plumbing, installation of DDA Compliant wet room, kitchen installation, electrical installations, wood flooring and carpentry, tiling, plastering, decorating and landscaping.

During these works we were also asked to upgrade the existing bathroom, install a new entrance porch remove and reinstall the front elevation, install a new roof to the existing property, upgrade the loft attic rooms and create a further bedroom within the existing ground floor of the property.
